Sole traders

Accounting software for sole traders

Keep your records in order all year, and be ready for Self Assessment and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax when it applies to you.

As a sole trader you are personally responsible for your tax return, so good records matter. AvrioBooks keeps your income, expenses and bank activity organised from day one, so that figures for your return or quarterly update are already in one place.

From April 2026 Making Tax Digital for Income Tax began to apply to self-employed people and landlords above an income threshold set by HMRC, with the threshold falling in later years. Instead of one annual return, you send HMRC digital updates through the year. AvrioBooks can connect to HMRC and help you send those updates. Read our plain-English MTD guide to see whether and when it applies to you.

Making Tax Digital in AvrioBooks depends on HMRC approval and your plan (Standard and above). Contact us to confirm availability before relying on it for a live submission.
